Corey Haim: Remembering A Teen Idol

From Lucas to Lost Boys, take a look back at the life and times of the former child star who faded too soon

After a stint on a Canadian sitcom, Toronto native Corey Haim made his Hollywood debut in the 1984 drama Firstborn, in a minor role opposite Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. Over 25 years after his promising debut, the 38-year-old actor died of a possible overdose after collapsing in his mother's apartment in Los Angeles, Calif., on March 10.

GEEK CHIC

Haim was only 14 when he stole hearts in 1986's Lucas. In the coming-of-age classic, the Toronto native played a geeky underdog in love with Maggie (Kerri Green) – who only has eyes for a football hero (Charlie Sheen). "I always thought acting was all lights, camera, action," he said at the time. "It's a job, you have to do your job correctly."

FIRST LOVE

Play ball! Haim and then-girlfriend Alyssa Milano – already a big star on TV's Who's the Boss? – make it a date at an L.A. Dodgers game in 1987. "RIP sweet boy," the actress Tweeted on the morning of his death.

MUCH AT STAKE

Before Twilight, there was The Lost Boys, the original teen dream vampire movie. Haim teamed up with Jason Patric (pictured), Kiefer Sutherland and best friend Corey Feldman for the 1987 hit – and later admitted that he first tried marijuana while on the set.

ON THE SCENE

Just months before a suicide attempt that sent her to rehab, Drew Barrymore and Haim hung out in Beverly Hills in 1989. The actress was linked to Haim's best friend Feldman at the time.

THE GOOD SON

The actor stays close to his parents Judy and Bernie on New Year's Day 1990. Before his death, Haim, 38, was living with his mom as she battled breast cancer, according to RadarOnline.com. "He was a good boy," she said.

IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT

At their peak, Haim and Feldman – dubbed the Two Coreys – costarred with Heather Graham in the adventure-comedy License to Drive in 1988. The film was a hit, and the pair tied for best actor at the Young Artist Awards.

BEST FRIENDS

Inseparable on- and off-screen, the friends appeared in eight films together before signing on for the 2007 reality show The Two Coreys, which detailed their battle with drug addiction – and their often contentious relationship. "We'll be best brothers forever and ever," Haim told Entertainment Weekly, "and past the grave."
