Is LeAnn Rimes Singing About Her Breakup?
Saturday January 30, 2010Before launching into a cover of Patty Griffin's "Let Him Fly" Friday night, LeAnn Rimes told the crowd at Las Vegas's Eastside Cannery, "This song spoke to me in the past few years, especially the past year. One of the hardest things in life is to let someone go that you really love."
Performing the 1996 song, Rimes sang, "It took a while to understand the beauty of just letting go, 'cause it would take an acrobat, I already tried all that."
"I think Griffin hit it right on the head with this song," she said.
Was she singing about Dean Sheremet, her husband of nearly eight years? The couple reached a divorce settlement last month, though the two will remain married until June 19, 2010.
Their marriage crumbled as Rimes began a relationship with actor Eddie Cibrian, who she met on the set of a movie they filmed together. Cibrian, who was also married at the time, is now divorcing Brandi Glanville.
Rimes, donning a black glittery cocktail dress and black leggings, didn't mention either Sheremet or Cibrian by name during the nearly two-hour concert, but did chuckle about her "dysfunctional family" before singing her song "Family."
